WHAT TO DO SHOULD YOU HAVE FIRE OR SMOKE DAMAGE

Try, to the best of your ability, to protect your property from further damage. We'll be there as soon as we can.
Open windows for ventilation if possible.
If electricity is off, empty freezer and/or refrigerator.
All broken doors and windows should be boarded up for protection of home property.
Determine the damage to your personal property and contents. Make a written list of what was damaged. Photos before and after property can be very valuable as to inventories.
Keep an accurate record of any expenses incurred that can be considered for possible reimbursement.
WHAT NOT TO DO IF YOU HAVE FIRE OR SMOKE DAMAGE
Do not wipe or attempt to wash walls, ceiling or other absorbent surfaces.
Do not use upholstered furniture.
Do not consume food items exposed to heat or smoke.
Do not use TV's or electrical appliances.
Do not send smoke damaged garments to an ordinary drycleaner.
Do not attempt any permanent repairs until an adjuster has had a chance to review the damage with you.

Protect your property from further damage.
If the water is coming from a source such as hot water tank, toilet, sinks etc, shut off all water valves.
Remove as much excess water as possible.
Punch small holes in sagging ceilings to relieve trapped water. Place buckets to catch water.
WHAT NOT TO DO IF YOU HAVE A FLOOD OR WATER DAMAGE
Do not use your household vacuum to remove water.
Do not leave books, magazines or other colored items on wet carpets or floors.
Do not use TV's or other appliances that may have gotten wet.
Do not turn on lights or fans that may have water trapped in ceiling.
